As a husband-and-wife wedding team, we love nothing more than when a couple creates a day that reflects who they are from start to finish. Bre’ella and Ryan did exactly that! The two were married at The Colony Club, a historic venue in downtown Detroit, surrounded by 225 of their closest friends and family.

To say this day was thoughtfully planned would be an understatement. Serena truly outdid herself. The first look and downtown portraits flowed seamlessly into a classic 5:00 PM ceremony and an unforgettable evening celebration. We had the honor of collaborating on this wedding day, and we had a lot of fun doing it. Serena led the planning process and coordinated day-of logistics, while Dominic DJed both the ceremony and reception, reading the room expertly and keeping the dance floor energy high all night long.

Bre’ella and Ryan’s story reminds us just how beautifully simple love can be. They grew up as family friends, always in each other’s orbit. Over time, that familiarity deepened into a romantic connection, but the friendship at the foundation never faded. Their history was written all over their wedding day, most noticeably in the way their families interacted: effortlessly and with genuine care. It’s a day we haven’t stopped thinking about, and we’re so excited to share some highlights.

In the end, everything came together flawlessly. The timeline held, the room transformation was stunning, and Bre’ella and Ryan were able to stay fully present with their guests all evening long. Days like this are a testament to the power of thoughtful preparation. It creates space for genuine connection instead of stress.

Music That Matched the Moment

One of our favorite things about this couple was the care they gave to every detail, especially the music. Each selection felt intentional and deeply personal. A custom-edited processional mix set the tone for their ceremony, which transitioned effortlessly into a cocktail hour filled with jazz and Rat Pack classics. The reception kicked off with a grand entrance to “Dancing Queen,” complete with guests waving streamers, and from there, the energy only climbed as the dance floor opened.

Still, it’s the quieter, more heartfelt moments that have stayed with us most. Bre’ella’s dance with her mom transformed into a beautiful, full-floor moment when they invited other mother-daughter pairs to join in. And the couple’s private last dance offered a pause at the end of the night to soak it all in. This wasn’t a celebration that followed traditions for tradition’s sake—it was centered on connection, honoring every kind of love.
